The “tart” is a local specialty of Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture. The city is home to numerous manufacturers of tarts, but the most popular remains “Ichiroku Tart” made by Ichiroku Honpo.

The “tart” is a local specialty of Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture. The most popular among the numerous products on the market is “Ichiroku Tart” made by Ichiroku Honpo, which was founded in the Meiji Period, more than a hundred years ago. It got its start as a symbol of reconstruction after the war, when air raids destroyed the factories of many local tart makers.
